Pokemon Too Realistic is a tough ROM hack of Pokemon Emerald that turns the game into a hardcore survival experience. In this version, Pokemon face serious dangers like permanent death, aging, hunger, and harsh environments. Players need to keep a close eye on their Pokemon’s health because there’s no easy way to check their status. Abilities are crucial for monitoring how your Pokemon are doing, and unpredictable weather and day-night changes add to the challenge.
This hack introduces long-term health issues, like Pokemon STDs and rabies (Pokérus), which can affect their stats and lifespan. Pokemon age and can die from hunger or overusing items like berries. Players must also manage their Pokemon’s feelings, as friendship levels impact how well they follow commands, especially if they’re stored in the PC for too long. The game also removes helpful features like the ability to Fly and makes healing harder to access, turning every decision into a high-stakes gamble.

- [7/4] Double battles have some wonkiness; if you have an unfriendly Pokemon on the left, an oversight applies disobedience to the right too. Unsure if this impacts any other stuff besides obedience.
- Fire pokemon don’t contract STDs in battle
- Friendship goes down faster than expected in PC
- Weird graphic error in place of Lv in PC sometimes
- Occassional DNS graphic errors
- Pokeblock berries require a move to be down 1 PP on the Pokemon to feed
- Pokemon health condition in Summary very ocassionally misinforming
- Mach bike doesn’t cause permadeath, just death
- Hunger, mach bike, and age deaths pop up a menu that can cause minor graphical error
