Pokemon Elite Redux Completed GBA ROM Hack
- Creator: Darkyy92
- Base ROM: Emerald
- Language: English
- Latest Version: v2.5 (Beta Testing Released)
- Last Updated on: December 01, 2024
- Status: Completed

Features
- Almost all Pokemon from generation 1 to 9 including DLC are available.
- 27 starter option, all starters from generation 1 to 9.
- New Redux Pokemon’s/Fakemons.
- Hisuian and Paldean Forms.
- Mega Evolution.
- Up to 4 Abilities At The Same Time: Every Pokémon can have up to 3 switchable abilities along with up to 3 fixed ones (innates). This creates fun new strategies and endless replayability, as you can play many Pokémon in several ways. Imagine Gyarados with Moxie & Aerilate or Intimidate at the same time!
- Every Single Trainer Has A Full Custom Moveset: Every Trainer party has been reworked manually, considering all new/changed abilities & moves. Most trainers have full competitive movesets with varying held items. Every rematch has been crafted individually for variety. You won’t meet the same brain-dead Poochyena with Tackle everywhere 😉
- Unique Difficulty: Most strategies the AI uses, you can too. Be creative! Battle Style is always “Set”. When choosing the Elite Difficulty, there is a good chance you will get slapped by the first Trainer if you’re not prepared.
- 110+ New Custom Abilities: Featuring a total of over 370 abilities with around 50 changed/extended abilities, you will have lots of options to defeat the many challenges awaiting you. Also, all ability descriptions have been rewritten for more accuracy!
- Reworked & Stronger AI: We revamped the AI to include all new/changed abilities & moves. Also, every Trainer now uses the smartest AI.
Zero Grinding
- You can set EVs quick & easy on the Summary Screen.
- Furthermore, you can change natures and abilities via Summary Screen.
- You’ll get a new Candy Box (unlimited rare candies) so you can switch teams often to try out new strategies. Rare Candies have Gen 8 mechanics, which means you can evolve at the Level Cap. You can either level up to 4 levels at a time or jump directly to the current Level Cap to save time!
- Every Pokémon has 31 IVs by default. You can easily change Hidden Power types with the Type Gems.
- You can set your Speed IVs to 0 (for Trick Room teams) or back to 31 with the new Iron Pill item.
- All Poké Balls have a 100% catch rate. You can use any ball you like. Additionally, every ball is infinite use.
- All held items stay on your Pokémon after battling – no more re-equipping Berries & Focus Sashes!
- Auto-Heal before every battle – no need for medicines or other healing items anymore.
- Reworked Pokémon, Abilities, Moves & Items: Every single Pokémon has been given love individually, e.g. Gyarados is now Water/Dragon with Levitate and Gengar can be used physically or specially. We reworked many moves to be less frustrating or more fun to use. For example, Aurora Beam now always lowers the foe’s Attack by one stage. The type chart hasn’t been touched. Some items like Big Root and Shell Bell have been buffed.
- Teach Moves Directly From The Party Menu: Now you can teach all available Level-Up moves, Egg moves, TMs/HMs and Tutor moves conveniently.
- Portable PC: Just like in newer Pokémon games, there is no need to go back to the Pokémon Center just to change your party. Also, you can now edit all your Pokémon directly in the PC!
- Custom Gift Pokémon: Since there is practically zero grinding, you’ll get access to full custom (competitive movesets) Pokémon by various characters.
Upgraded Battle Engine & Battle UI
- Using RH-Hideouts Battle Engine, all Pokémon from Gen 1 to 7 (1200+ Species) plus many Gen 8 Pokémon are catchable and most Gen 8 moves, abilities & items too. Including Mega Evolution, but not Z-Moves.
- For some Mega Evolutions, you can even choose between 3 different abilities!
- Vastly improved Battle UI, which shows Type Effectiveness & STAB to help with some new typings. It even considers abilities such as Levitate. Also, you can press L when selecting moves to check Power, Accuracy and if the move makes contact – just like in CFRU hacks!
- Frostbite has replaced Freeze: No more annoying freezes! Frostbite deals 1/16 HP damage per turn. Special Attack of the affected Pokémon is halved. 3x chance of Frostbite in hail.
Diverse Postgame
- There are many really strong trainers (including Gym Leaders & E4) waiting for you after you’ve beat the E4. There are up to 4 carefully crafted rematches per trainer. You also don’t have to wait a day anymore to rematch Gym Leaders – you can battle whenever you like!
- You can choose Singles or Doubles, with or without Legendaries for important Rematches
- After beating the Champ, you can catch all remaining Legendaries (Gen 1 – 7 and two special Pokémon from Gen 8) if you have beaten all trainers on certain routes.
- Easy Catching / Tweaked DexNav: Featuring ghoulslash’s improved DexNav, which we further tweaked for easier catching. You can instantly scan for the Pokémon you want from the beginning. They also don’t run away anymore. Did I mention, you will have unlimited Pokéballs with 100% catch rate?
- Access To Many Battle & Evolution Items From The Start: You’re not limited by any means – it’s totally fine to send your 252/252 Atk/Speed Pokémon with Choice Band and Adamant nature against the first trainer. You’ll also get all Mega Stones before battling Norman (5th Gym).
- New Forfeit Feature: You can now forfeit Trainer battles, so you don’t have to waste time when getting stalled
- Wins & Losses Counter: Displays your unique wins (every unique team including rematches defeated) and losses (including forfeiting)
- New Locations (from IE): A few maps, like Petalburg Woods and Scorched Slab, have been expanded with new areas, and there are also a few all-new locations. This helps to spread out Pokémon species and keep grassy patches from getting too crowded. Some new maps also serve as homes to Legendary Pokémon that wouldn’t normally be found in Emerald.
- Day, Dusk & Night System (from IE): Day is 4am to 6pm, Night is 6pm to 4am, and Dusk is 5pm to 6pm
- Weather Rework (from IE): Weather-inducing abilities like Drought and Drizzle create endless weather again, but the damage bonus from sun and rain has been reduced to 20%. The goal behind this was to make defensive weather abilities like Ice Body and Rain Dish better options, while reigning in Swift Swim and its clones a bit. Additionally, Ice Types receive a 50% defense boost in Hail. It really does help all those slow, defensive Ice types!
- Custom List of 100 TMs, 8 HMs and ~ 130 Tutor Moves (from IE): Some of these are entirely new, such as Meteor Mash, Quiver Dance and Freeze-Dry
- Custom Mega Evolutions (from IE): Pokémon like Milotic and Flygon can finally mega evolve – complete with custom sprites and cries. Some Gigantamax forms like Kingler have also been repurposed as Megas.
- Enhanced Pokédex (from IE): Elite Redux uses TheXaman’s Pokédex Plus, which shows base stats, learnsets, egg moves, evolutions and more, all in game!
- Choose Any Regional Starter (from Gen 1-9): Before choosing a starter, you’ll be asked which region you want your starters to come from, and then you can pick one of the three from that region. Be careful not to fast-forward your way through the early game and skip this choice!
Accessible For Everyone:
Intended as a difficulty hack first, but you can pick between three difficulty modes and three level caps. Play how you like it. You can also turn off EVs completely anytime in any mode.
- Easy Mode: Trainers have no EVs, but you can have them. That’s a huge advantage, but the teams will still be a challenge! Bag use in battles is disabled. The Set battle style is enforced.
- Ace Mode: Same teams & limitations as in Easy Mode, but every trainer has custom EVs. Also, there is a sleep clause, which prevents putting more than 1 Pokémon to sleep.
- Elite Mode: Same limitations as in Ace Mode, but you’ll face much harder teams for important fights, like Gym Leaders and the Pokémon League. Additionally, you have to unlock more innates by defeating the first 2 Gyms.
- Lower The Difficulty Anytime:
- You can lower the difficulty in any Pokémon Center, but you can’t go higher.
Lowering goes like this: Elite -> Ace -> Easy
- You can lower the difficulty in any Pokémon Center, but you can’t go higher.
- Various Fun Randomizer Modes
- Encounter Randomizer, Ability Randomizer, Innate Randomizer, Move Randomizer
Tons Of Quality Of Life Changes
- Rewritten move descriptions for more clarity or to describe new effects, now it’s much easier to see the chance for additional effects like flinching, or which moves affect Iron Fist / Mega Launcher etc.
- Updated Move Details Screen – now shows more move details like Critical Hit Rate, chance of Secondary Effects etc.
- Enable / disable permanent repel from the Options Menu

- All useful Berries (Sitrus, Salac, Figy etc.)
- Iron Pill – to set your Speed IVs to 0 or back to 31, useful for Trick Room
- Honey for some wild encounters
- Escape Rope to save time
Change Log
v2.5
Version 2.5 is now available for beta testing with New features mentioned below! It’s a good idea to start with a fresh save. If you find any bugs, please report them on the game’s Discord server to help creators prepare for the full release.
- Move review! We modified over 200 moves to be more interesting / powerful / useful.
- Movepool review! All Pokemon have had their movepools reworked from the ground up with the new moves.
- Trainer review! All trainers in mandatory areas have had their teams redesigned, with more trainer changes to come as we proceed through the beta.
- Balance changes for many existing Pokemon to make them more powerful and interesting to use.
- Many new Redux Pokemon, Convergent forms, Mega Evolutions, regular evolutions, and maybe more…? Check your Mystery Gifts and the Adoption Center, who knows what you’ll find.
- Gyms now have a new ‘gymskills’ challenge system. Speak to the advisor in-game to learn more.
- New move-learning UI! In addition to being much less cluttered, it’s much easier to navigate. Level / TM / Tutor / Egg lists are a thing of the past.
- Victory Road has been entirely overhauled to be a true challenge for the end of your journey.
v2.2.1
- You can UP the difficulty anytime now
- No more need to restart a whole run when you decide to change the difficulty. Just speak to the same old man in any Pokémon Center.
- To make it fair for challenge runs: there is a new symbol Ω on the Hall of Fame screen when the difficulty was lower anytime than the final difficulty.
v2.2
- Changed some Pokemon for better. Go look for them! You may even find a few surprises here and there!
- Overworld sprites got a facelift to make the game feel fresh. Or not, up to you. But it looks different for sure.
- Randomizer blacklists fixed. No more unfinished content available to public.
- Changed the level of ALL vanilla pseudo Pokemon evolutions to 50.
- Maractus can now be caught at Verdanturf Meadow. Enjoy the change because we know that we’ve some fans here!
- A decent number of Pokemon sprite were updated.
- Fixed incorrect descriptions of moves and abilities.
- Farfetch’d’s favorite item, Leek, now works as intended: Previous: + 50% ATK Current: +100% ATK
- Malignant Chain and Prismatic Laser were changed to now make use of the highest offensive stat of the Pokemon that uses them.
- Tough Claw now works with Precipice Blades. Contact flag was added to the move.
- Lots of interactions between moves and abilities were fixed.
- Removed way too many ways to crash the game. Hopefully this makes the game now a better experience to all.
- Jagged Pass is now less annoying. Map was changed a bit.
- Removed Ultra Primal Mega Rayquaza. Why? Why not? Or maybe… does it means something?

Frequently Asked Questions (v2.0) (FAQ for v2.0)
So what got added in this update, anyway?
There’s a lot. The rest of the gen 8 Pokemon, all of the Hisui Pokemon, all of the gen 9 Pokemon (except for Terapagos, Ogerpon and Pecharunt), Gen 9 abilities and moves, and a large number of new abilities and moves. We also have a small number of new evolutions for existing Pokemon, new Mega Evolutions, and we’ve started adding Redux Forms for Pokemon as well.
Did >Pokémon XYZ< get buffed?
Unless it was already noticeably good, yes, it probably got at least something. We’ve distributed the gen 9 moves quite a bit (but we’re still open to suggestions for what could get what!), as well as new custom moves and older moves, and we did a full balance review of the entire Pokédex in anticipation of 2.0. Almost every Pokémon in the Dex has at least a couple of new toys.
What is BP?
BP stands for Battle Points, you earn them from battling trainers (including losses!). They can be spent in various locations added to this patch.
What is this yellow-roofed AC building replacing the Pokemart?
There is no use for the Pokemart in Elite Redux with battle items disabled and Nurse Joy giving you almost everything you could want, so in its place… welcome to the Adoption Center! You can spend BP gained from trainer battles here to buy Redux Pokémon which are not available any other way, as well as their Mega Stones for some new Mega Evolutions, once Norman is defeated. There will be more uses for BP in the future, as well as a great many more Redux Pokémon, but for now, tell us what you think of this system!
How do I Level Up and Evolve my Pokémon?
Start Menu → Pokémon. Select a Pokémon, and you should see several options such as “Summary”, “Switch”, “Level Up”, and “Evolve” (when available). You can also change a Pokémon’s form using this menu, such as Deoxys or Oricorio. If your Pokémon would normally evolve using an item (Raichu, Flareon, etc.) or by having a specific move (Yanmega, Annihilape, etc.), it has been changed to be a pure level-up evolution. Pokémon with multiple possible evolutions will have all their options available to pick from.
How do I change moves now?
Go to your Pokémon’s move list in its summary and, without selecting any of its moves, press R. This opens up the learn-a-new-move menu, which shows which moves you already have and lets you select new moves to learn. Click on a move, and it will show your Pokémon’s current moves on the left, which lets you select one to replace, quick and easy. You can press left and right while selecting a move to learn, to swap between the Level-Up, Egg, TM/HM and Tutor lists.
What is Perma Mega Mode?
Perma Mega Mode is precisely what it sounds like. When you unlock Mega Evolution after talking to Norman, you now have the option to change your Pokémon into their Mega forms outside of battle from the party menu, just like a normal form change. (This still requires the right Mega Stone to be in your inventory, so no easy Mega Dragonite for you!) A Pokémon that has Mega Evolved in this way will not revert back to normal at the end of a battle. You can have multiple Megas on your team in this way at once, and they can even hold other items. You can still Mega Evolve Pokémon in the normal way if you like, though.
The casino in Mauville doesn’t have starter Pokémon available anymore! What gives?
First, make sure you explore Route 102 properly. It’s not required for this, but you might find something interesting. But that aside… Once you’ve beaten Flannery, swing by Lavaridge, the flower shop outside of Petalburg Woods, and the open-air market in Slateport. Some vendors there don’t really have a reason to be there because ER already gives you their items… but like the adoption centers, they have stuff available in exchange for BP.
What does Bleed do?
Bleed does damage over time, prevents healing effects from activating on the Pokémon that is bleeding, and negates stat boosts while active. Bleed can be removed by using healing moves such as Recover or Roost, which won’t heal the user but will cure Bleed, and can then heal the user as normal afterward. Most slashing moves, and some biting moves, have a small chance to cause Bleed.
Is every Pokémon with a Regional or Redux Form that is getting a Mega in their base form also getting a Mega? I.e.: Mega Clodsire, Mega Galarian Slowbro
Suffice to say, we have a great many plans for the future. Stay tuned.
What did we do to deserve Gym 8?
We thought it’d be funny. (And if we can manage it, it’s definitely doable.)
What’s the deal with Redux Aegislash?
Redux Aegislash’s two forms are Axe and Bow, which have high Attack/Defense and Special Attack/Special Defense respectively. Using physical moves will swap Redux Aegislash into its Axe Form before it uses them, like how regular Aegislash will turn into Blade Form before using any offensive move. Using special moves, or any of the various arrow moves it gets access to, will turn Redux Aegislash into its Bow Form (where its Mythical Arrows ability makes those moves into special moves if they were normally physical.)
So when do I get access to these Redux mons, anyway?
-Pansage, Pansear and Panpour are available from the start.
-Abra, Solosis, Stufful, Whismur and Weedle are after Roxanne.
-Honedge, Buizel, Machop and Pawniard are after Brawly.
-Houndour, Slugma, Growlithe, Sableye, Mawile, Doduo and Skarmory are after Wattson.
-Deino, Gible and Larvitar are after Winona.
-Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf are after Juan.

Nice. My only concern though is when I downloaded this game last when I open the summary menu it didn’t have the option to tutor moves it only had the option for field moves. If that ends up becoming fixed i would very much appreciate it.
Nothing like a game that makes you want to break your phone. Complete trash if you ask me. Games should be fun not stressful. Don’t get me wrong if you’re into this type of absolute hell then kudos to you but sorry no thank you even easy mode is set up to destroy you. Can’t use items & no matter the team you build the A.I. has the perfect counter to it. Not to mention the whole wild encounter is based off of the Pokemon with the highest lv. in your team. Too much B.S. to a game that could of but isn’t.
Love that they added gen 9. The only issue I’ve that I’ve noticed is in this update is that you don’t have the option to tutor moves.
The pokedex site is not updated.
can u update it on gameboy advanced
The linked Pokédex doesn’t show me the redux aegislash form. All I want is details on how the stance change ability works 🙁
Any shiny codes or one hit knock out code
The game Freeze in a battle AND cannot play because i have to reset a second Time.
Pleas report the glitch to the creator!
The pokedex is not updated can you update it?
