Story
Pokemon Throwback is a hack of the Gen 1 remakes that aims to refine and enhance the classic Kanto experience. Instead of changing the game completely, it adds quality-of-life improvements, new features, and bug fixes—staying true to the original GBA style while delivering a more polished version of the classic story.

GB Sounds
- Switch between GBA and original Game Boy music.
- Uses authentic Gen 1 audio from Red/Green/Blue/Yellow.
- Access via the GB Sounds item in your Key Items.
- Music choice is saved and supports stereo or mono sound.
Catch ’em All
- All Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon are available and integrated naturally.
- Trade evolutions work via Bill’s Teleporter (or by normal trade).
- No Gen 3 Pokemon included (yet).
- National Dex is given post-Elite Four, regardless of caught count.
- Sevii Islands unlocked after beating the game.
- Use Gen 2+ Pokemon in the main story.

- Healing animation no longer plays for eggs.
- “Moves that never miss” now show “–” accuracy.
- Hidden Itemfinder delay removed.
- Rock Smash can now yield random items.
- Localization fixes: gamblers, “blacked out,” Celadon Condominiums, etc.
- Green and Charine renamed to Blue and Janine.
- Gym Leaders and E4 have Gen 1-level teams.
- Music fixes: League theme, Celadon theme in link rooms.
- Game Freak screen now shows “Presents”.
- Pewter City Jigglypuff spins like in Gen 1.
Extras (Optional Patches)
Decapitalization
- All text is properly capitalized/decapitalized like modern games.
- Only shouting or menu items remain in all caps.
Higher Quality Cries
- Replaces Pokemon cries with higher-quality WAV versions.
- Takes up more ROM space but improves audio fidelity.
Custom Learnsets (Optional)
- Pokemon can learn level-up and egg moves from Gens III–V.
- Not part of the main patch—use if you want gameplay variety.
- Best combined with the Physical/Special split patch.
