Creator Words about the game
I’ve always felt that Pokemon and Dark Souls share a lot of similarities. So, I decided to explore this by incorporating Dark Souls mechanics that Pokemon lacks, aiming to create a complete Souls-like experience. My main goal is to eventually build an entire Dark Souls-inspired region. However, since large projects like this often go unfinished, I wanted to at least release the features I’ve already implemented.
Features
- Any experience points (EXP) you earn are turned directly into money.
- Pokemon can only level up at a Poke center by talking to the nurse and paying money for EXP (1 EXP equals 1 money).
- When you heal at a Poke center or when your Pokemon faint, all trainers you have defeated will be reset.
- If you lose to a trainer, you will lose all your money. You can get it back by beating that trainer again.
- If you lose to a wild Pokemon, you will lose all your money. An item will appear where you fought, which you can pick up to get your money back.
- Instead of getting running boots from the start, the player gets a Potion Flask as a key item. It has three charges and can be used to fully heal all Pokemon in the party. The charges are refilled when you heal at a Poke center.
Closing Words
The result is a PokeEmerald version featuring unique mechanics, though the world itself remains unchanged and isn’t balanced for these additions.
From my experience, it’s quite fun but also fairly easy. To be clear: this is just a showcase of the implemented mechanics, not a full game release.
