Description
Looking for a fun new ROM hack or fan game that puts a fresh spin on the classic Gen 3 games while keeping their original charm and gameplay?
Pokemon Pear Green takes place 100 years after a major disaster reshaped the Kanto region, splitting the Sevii Islands from what’s now called “Greater Kanto.” Many parts of the region have been lost, and new “paradox” versions of old Pokemon have taken over, outcompeting their original forms. These powerful new Pokemon are rare in Sevii, but they’ve changed the way evolution works—unevolved Pokemon remain the same and no longer evolve to avoid being hunted. Over time, all Pokemon have adapted to these changes in power and balance.
Explore a transformed Sevii Region with familiar but altered locations, new areas, and tons of post-game content. Along the way, you’ll discover and collect these new Pokemon forms to build a one-of-a-kind team. Get ready for an exciting adventure with plenty of surprises!
Features
- 40+ hours of content before the post-game, with post-game containing an expansive area akin to a second region
- Largely preserved all the original mechanics and parameters of the game, meaning no fairy, Pokemon types are split by physical special (normal, ground, steel vs. fire, grass, electric). Etc.
- Around 150 replaced Pokemon forms with their own unique types, stats, and movepools
- Buffed stats that largely even out among all the Pokemon’s interactions (Paradox forms on average have Base Stat Totals between 580 and 620, and don’t have a booster energy lol)
- All the same items of FireRed with some TM/tutor move changes, trade changes
- 3 completely new pokemon (one being Gorochu); 3 special ‘mythicals’
- 6 new moves and 2 secret new moves
- Map reworked while keeping the old map
- Shiny odds increased x9 from original odds, to about .1%. Fully updated shinies for new forms and some for remaining old forms.
- Expansive post-game region, with many changes of the game increasing after like Gym 4.
- Only borrowed features are the Gorochu front (official?) and back sprites (VivinkArt?) used.
- Only thing I expanded codewise is I added one move to the game before deciding it was better to replace moves. That is why when you use Night Slash it just says ‘used a dark move.’ I broke up some palettes for sprites, but the auto-pointer should has that handled. I noticed some hidden items not working towards the end of making the game, so I had to abide by the natural limit there and just do away with the ones that weren’t working.
What is Pokemon Pear Green Special Edition
People will enjoy the special edition more if they play through the original edition first, but people can do as they please. The special edition will mainly appeal to 90s kid and the only crucial change is the starter Pokemon options.
Known Bugs
- Trainer gives infinite Tea (not a problem for the game and I can fix anyways if I want)
- You can technically skip Mt. Pyroclast Ruby and still get into Isle 6 rocket hideout but you can’t skip the Sapphire on Isle 5
- A few bookcases or staircases you can accidentally walk on (not a problem and can be fixed)
- Toggle for Isles 4-7 not displaying properly on the Town Map (because I didn’t use the proper flags for unlocking those isles probably…)
- A glitched version of Bill taking you back to one island can play if you fly back to South Point after finishing some of the mission, but it’s a purely graphical glitch and doesn’t effect the game
- Lists in the game can only be so long (like 22 items or something) as such, some of the moves learned by Pokemon at their higher levels might not be relearnable by the move tutor
- The game thinks you are battling the Pokemon League for the second time because the main game takes place in the Sevii Isles. Thus there is no stronger battle versions for the league
- Flare Blitz is working perfectly fine now.
- I left some references to old cities on purpose, like in gyms. After beating pokemon league Oak references original starters. In Rocket HQ Gary references Saffron…
- Graphic color error in part of credits due to area with sandstorm weather
- If you think you are stuck behind a trainer, you will hopefully be near a door you can walk through to reset the trainer positions

FAQs
Where is HM Flash?
It’s in one of the very first areas you can explore after the home town (near where it is needed), so just make sure you talk to random people standing around who don’t seem to be trainers.
Where is HM Cut?
In Isle 2 there is a person who says “I would never hide…” Just make sure you check the NPC in the obvious places.
Where’s the Tea?
There’s a trainer in Isle 3 who is unavoidable, who will tell you that he has something to give you after the battle…
Where do you go after beating Ericka?
Just like the Rock Tunnel is inaccessible until beating Brock, there is another area you have already passed which you may have noticed you needed badges to go into. This area is only accessible if you have four badges. If you read battle dialogue closely, too, you will be reminded which area it is.
How do I activate the Ruby/Sapphire Mission?
Once you have returned to this isle, make sure you talk to Celio again after you have received the Tri-Pass
Why isn’t there anything to do on Isle 5?
(Isle four is technically the place where Icefall Cave is, which you visit after Ericka)
Are you sure you’re on Isle 5 and not Isle 6?
Maybe you chose the wrong path first
Why is there so much to do on Isle 5?
Because Isle 5 is awesome!! But most of what you have to do there is optional. You just have to beat the gym and do the thing you need to do to unlock Isle 6 content (if you played FRLG…).
I have Surf, where do I get Rock Smash?
There’s lots of new places to explore now that you can surf! Remember all those places we skipped on Isle 5 because there was too much lol? And all the other places…
Why is the map kind of funky?
Much of the main map is repurposed with fly points for the post game or random connections to the Isles, so if you visit all area, by the end of the game you will find all fly points are used. Navigating between the isles the easiest can take some getting used to early on though, and perhaps will be a bit annoying for some at times. The boat hall at South Point helps a lot.
I can’t find the Go-Goggles.
There’s lots of new places to explore now that you can surf! Have you been to Old Vermillion yet? It’s not there, but there’s a funny guy there who will scam you out of $50 for a chance to see the attraction of a lifetime!! There is also another trainer somewhere who will remind you of the places you might consider going now that you can surf…
I beat the Pokemon League, what now??
After you beat the Pokemon League, there is one thing you should generally always consider doing once they send you back to the hometown, which will instruct you on where to go next.
You will also need to have caught at least a certain number of Pokemon to unlock this dialogue.
If you do this thing, and then follow the steps to unlock the post-game, you will unlock three new post-game areas (a very small area, medium area, and a rather big but not massive third area)
I unlocked the Post-Game, what now??
I suppose in my eyes, the game is officially beaten once you reach the Paradox Depths and do what there is to do there. There is an NPC who will roll an additional credit scene whenever you talk to them after you have done this, so double shoutouts to you if you consider that the official end of the game – beating the depths and then going and talking to that NPC.
There is however also the content to be done on the medium isle, as well as all the optional content on Isle 5, so if you want to consider the game fully complete you are likely:
- Beating all 16 gyms
- Doing the Paradox Reach
- Doing all 3 extensions of the Isle of Legends (Circuit Tower, Navel Rock, Seafoam/Cerulean)
- Going back and completing all three mythical parts of Fairytale Isle if you didn’t already – these are some of the best parts of the game in my opinion and very worth doing early on
- Finding and rolling the final credits scene.
This game is very confusing
Never mind it gets easier if you navigate every spot possible
