Description

I’m working on updating the well-known Ruby hack, Pokemon Snakewood, to bring it up to modern standards. While the story and trainer battles remain unchanged for now, I’ve made several quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes to ensure a smoother gaming experience.

New Features

  • Physical/Special Split
  • Reusable TMs
  • Repel Reuse Prompts
  • Wrapping Summary Screens
  • Bag Expansion
  • HM Usage without sacrificing move slots
  • Alpha-Blended Shadows like HGSS

Bugfixes / Changes

  • Tile corruption in Littleroot Town on spawn
  • Darkening of tiles after a screen fade in
  • Readable text colors
  • Replace Golbat’s sprite
  • Fix Shop’s window tile corruption
  • Field Moves have colored text in the Party Menu
  • Disease type removal
  • Type icons reverted to default Ruby ones
  • Emerald style Save Prompt
  • Colored stat values based on nature
  • Repeated item usage
  • Error screen for wrong save file type
  • Multiple Registered Key Items
  • Exp Points on capture
  • Autorunning shoes
  • Fix Female Player sprite issues
  • More exp. points on winning battles
  • Event Specific
    • Fix the palette issue for Meteor’s portrait
    • Use any Electric moves for SS Cangrejo’s elevator event
    • Avoid softlock after losing the Senex battle
    • Set respawn point in Sootopolis City before heading to Sootopolis Heights
    • Hard Disk Solo is obtained without having to catch Roclobster

WIP

  • Fixing improper item names
  • Fixing item description overflows
  • Event Specific
    • Fixed some cutscene event movement issues
      • In Route 101, the first zombie cutscene uses the slide movements
      • In Verdanturf Ruins, both Alicia and Pestilence have their exit movements stop at the edge of the screen
      • In Mauville City, Chloe walks into the Hombone and later into the former Chef

Features from Pokemon Snakewood

  • New scripts, new overworlds, new sprites – the usual
  • Exciting new areas, such as the hidden Meathouse, the maddening Island of Calm and the unexpected Hoenn University of Film
  • Several zombie versions of normal Pokémon (Fakemon), two of which are capturable
  • 6 Denjuu
  • An indeterminate number of Fakemon (somewhere between 40 and 50), including a good number of hidden evolutions to existing Pokémon
  • New legendaries, some of which are very, very evil
  • 7(?) Sinnoh Pokémon
  • 5(?) Isshu (or Unova, depending on how much you care) Pokémon
  • Most Gyms have now been destroyed by zombies, and hence Badges are come by in somewhat unusual ways
  • A few type changes for Pokémon here and there:
    • Luxio => Electric/Dark
    • Luxray => Electric/Dark
    • Meowth => Normal/Dark
    • Persian => Normal/Dark
    • Seviper => Poison/Dark
    • Banette => Ghost/Fighting
    • Milotic => Water/Psychic
    • Hariyama => Fighting/Normal
  • A surprising pet shop run by a certain Count
  • A host of deceitful characters who will do anything to lie to you
  • An unusual and somewhat wandering storyline
  • An enormous number of references to books, films, manga, other hacks and other such things
  • A somewhat darker plot than usual
  • A slightly increased difficulty level

    Looks promising but the game crashed immediately after first battle. Just stuck on the screen, not able to proceed further.

    Like how it says it’s based off of fire red. When it’s built more like Emerald, Ruby, or Sapphire.
